Destination for History Lovers and Foodies
The Camargue is also an ideal destination for a boating holiday if you love visiting outstanding towns such as Aigues Mortes with fortified castles, taking you back in time to the first crusades. Food enthusiasts will love the Mediterranean cuisine of the region - Bouzigues's famous oysters, Costieres wine from Nimes or Muscat from Frontignan. For those who love sunbathing and swimming, the Camargue is the perfect location close to the Mediterranean beaches - often reachable on foot or by bike!

Hire a Canal Barge on the Canal from the Rhone to Sete
A little history the canal from the Rhone to Sete is the logical extension of Pierre Paul Riquet's structure (creator of the Canal du Midi in the 17th century). The work was staggered over several centuries to get what was first known as the pond canal up and running. In 1811, it eventually joined up with a branch of the Rhone at Beaucaire. This finally connected it to the European canal network whilst linking the Atlantic with the Mediterranean by river.
