Waterways of Scotland with houseboat rentals & canal boat hire
The Caledonian Canal provides a shortcut between the North sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It runs for some 100 kilometers linking Inverness in the North-West to Fort William in the South-East.
In the Scottish Lowlands the Union Canal and the Fort & Clyde Canal provide a second shortcut, linking Edinburgh in the East to Glasgow in the West. These canals are currently being restored and will be open to navigation by the end of the year 2001..
